Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway performances, she starred her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She received an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director has spent most of her career working alongside prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. As a Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford will be seen opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the nation's crisis, which swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment trial in more than 100 years. She was in two seasons of the cult CBS comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides his time in Los Angeles.
