Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's mom was a soldier wife and her family had moved to Louisiana at the age of Decker was just nine years old. Decker was a winner at a talent competition during which she sang the song of Patsy Montana, I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker had relocated to Georgia when she reached the age of 15. After she began writing, she made frequent visits to Nashville as well as visited music studios and record labels with the hopes of finding a contract. Songs were sold to record companies and other artists by an agent from Big Yellow Dog Records agent in her teens. Decker's demos were passed to L.A. Jessie James' first album entitled Jessie James and released in August 2009, was her own debut. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a number one hit in the Top 40 Singles Charts was moderately well-received. Decker always thought of herself as a singer from the country genre however, the album's promotion and production was geared towards a more pop-oriented audience. Following two singles from the album stiffed Decker battled with label management for more control over her music, and her subsequent track Boys in the Summer was a more country-oriented release. Decker's sophomore studio album was announced with the title Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury put it on hold as three of her country singles performed poorly. The album was later canceled.
